Thank you for entrusting your daughters to Catholic education at Pomona Catholic High School. It is my privilege to serve the community surrounding the Pomona Valley. On behalf of the Pomona Catholic community, I extend a special welcome to our new students and their families, as we begin our journey together. To our returning students and families who share in our mission, to provide the best possible educational experience in the Pomona Valley, thank you for your support. Here at Pomona Catholic High School we stand firm in our commitment to provide Catholic education grounded in a passion for excellence in the spiritual, physical, social, and academic aspects necessary to prepare our students for the global world. And, "When we educate a Woman, we educate a Generation."
Our family here at Pomona Catholic extends beyond these walls and grounds, to parents, grandparents, and alumnae. As we strive to fulfill our mission, many roles create a team that contributes to the success of this mission. Together, we will work to inspire a strong sense of Christian morals and values, along with a solid academic foundation.
The WCEA/WASC accreditation process rewarded Pomona Catholic with its hard work and changes. We were awarded a three year extension on our current accreditation. This new designation takes us to the year 2013. This is great news. The process recognized the dedication and loyalty of the faculty in their commitment to our students. This year we have installed four new SMART Boards which are currently being utilized by our faculty. This is 21st century technology designed to increase learning interest and satisfies a research based instruction criteria that few schools can match. Our goal is to continue to upgrade our technology to assist in ensuring a successful educational journey for our students. In addition to this interior upgrade, I hope when you approach our building, you see the incredible work our exterior received with a new coat of paint.
My vision continues to include additional SMART Boards and upgraded technology, new landscaping, new surface on the parking lot, an increase in academic support services and an answer to the increased rising costs of textbooks. My goal is to create a path where the cost of textbooks is practical and affordable.
In this current 2010-2011 school year, enrollment is up over 10 per cent. With growth comes the demand for new programs. Pomona Catholic has added new after school academic enrichment, a cross country team, dance team, a new choir, various new student clubs and organizations, and a new Development strategy to ensure the future for Pomona Catholic. Our Board of Directors is organized and is providing leadership to maintain a vision and program of excellence.
Our outreach continues to grow. This year we adopted six families at Christmas and held several food drives to assist the less fortunate of our community. Our students continue to be sensitive to the needs of the community. When a need arises, our students do not hesitate to take action. This action complements our student and molds her into a better citizen.
We proudly serve the Pomona Catholic community and hope that our parents will get involved as we make every effort to provide the best learning environment and atmosphere. As the year unfolds, do not hesitate to drop in and see how we are building the kingdom of God. My staff and I are always available to meet with you. Pomona Catholic High School has served high school students since 1898. Let us visualize and support the potential of this school now and in the years to come.
